This is a fantastic very old pennant for then Iowa State College. Hard to believe this has survived to where it is today. Did we tell you it was fantastic?
DETAILS:
- 13 1/2” x 33 1/2” wool felt pennnt
- The flag portion is cardinal and lightly faded on the front
- Gold band and lettering stitched with great old school quality
- Cardinal ribbon ties that are deteriated over time
- No holes from being pinned, anywhere
- We are guessing the time frame because there is aging consistent with wool pennants
WHY WE LOVE THIS ITEM:
A big reason we are fawning over this pennant is how great condition it is… and the fact that it says, “AMES”. As many well round Cyclone fans know, for a long time, the football team was referred to as Ames when it was officially known as Iowa State College. The quality on this piece is great and we are blown away that there isn’t any real damage to it, except for the cardinal ribbon ties. We predict that any tried and true Cyclone that has this hanging, would get instant street cred from their fellow cardinal birds of a feather.
WHAT WOULD WE DO WITH THIS:
First, we’d never ever take some push pins and hang it up in a dorm room. We’d take this to get custom framed. It’s an old piece and needs to be shared under glass to be shown off watching Iowa State win another Big 12 tournament.
